Gage Park Baptist is an
American Baptist Church and started as a mission of First
Baptist Church of Topeka. Gage Park Baptist began with a few
committed people meeting in the home of James and Jean Crider in
1949.
Pastor Lloyd Griffith was called as the first pastor and the
first public services were held on September 4, 1949, in the old
Coed Theater on Lane Street. Today this building is the home for
Latta-Whitlow Plumbing.
The sanctuary unit ground-breaking was held February 26, 1950.
Much of the work on the building was done by the members and
friends of the church.
On September 13, 1964, ground-breaking for the educational unit
was held concluding the physical building of the church. Over
the years, the members have taken excellent care of the building
as you can see today.
In January of 1993, the congregation adopted a purpose statement
that stands today "To bring glory to God in our community and
the world through a relationship with and a commitment to Jesus
Christ as Savior and Lord." It is with this purpose in mind that
we administer the programs and services listed on this web site.
As you visit this site, it is our hope and prayer that we can be
of assistance to you in finding a church home. Do not hesitate
to call the church office or pastor Bob if you should have any
questions. Thank you for visiting with us and may God bless you
in your quest to find a church home.
In the Bonds of His Spirit,
Rev. Robert L. (Bob) Roesler
